Seaswells and HIGHTIDE General Submission Guidelines (non-contest--see below for contest)

 

  • All submissions must be previously unpublished

  • All submissions must include a 50-150 word bio (about you as a person/writer/artist...interests, other work that has been published (if any), etc)

  • General submissions for the print journal Seaswells accepted 9/1-2/14 each year

  • General submissions accepted for poetry, prose, photography, and art

  • General submissions for the print journal Seaswells open to all present and former CCGA students, faculty, and staff

  • General submissions for the online journal HIGHTIDE accepted on a rolling basis (that is, at any time, to be considered for the next issue), but summer submissions may not receive a reply until fall

  • General submissions to the online journal HIGHTIDE open to undergraduate students at any institution, all members of the Golden Isles community, and all present and former CCGA students, faculty, and staff

  • General submissions from present and former CCGA students, faculty, and staff simultaneously considered for both Seaswells and HIGHTIDE

  • All entries should be emailed to seaswells@ccga.edu

  • The email subject line should state "General Submission" and the category (poetry, prose, art, photography)

  • If submitting in more than one category, compose a separate email for each category

  • The body of the email must include submission title(s), and writer/artist name, email, contact number, and affiliation (present and former CCGA student, faculty, or staff, Golden Isles community member, undergraduate at another institution)

  • All poetry and prose entries must be attached as .doc or .docx files

  • All photography and art entries should be attached as high quality digital files, 100KB/at least 300dpi

  • Each person may submit up to five entries in each category

  • Recommended entry fee: donate to the Glynn Community Crisis Center (domestic violence) or America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia (food assistance). For more information click donate. 

 

Seaswells Contest Rules and Submission Guidelines

  • Contests open to all current CCGA students

  • Students may submit up to three entries in each competition

  • All entries should be emailed to seaswells@ccga.edu

  • The email subject line should state the contest title (example: "Barr Poetry Contest" or "Black & White Photography Contest")

  • If submitting in more than one category, compose a separate email for each category (example: separate emails needed for Color Photography Contest and Computer-Enhanced Photography Contest)

  • The body of the email must include submission title(s), medium (for art files), and writer/artist name, email, contact number

  • All poetry and prose entries must be attached as .doc or .docx files

  • All photography and art entries should be attached as high quality digital files, 100KB/at least 300dpi

  • All artwork must also be submitted to Jones 109 or the Camden Center Office (send a SEPARATE email from your submission email to set up a time to meet for drop off)

  • All photography must also be no larger than 8 x 10", unframed and printed on photographic paper, and submitted to Jones 109 or the Camden Center Office

SUBMISSION RULES AND GUIDELINES

Contests are for CCGA students. Winners and accepted submissions will be published in the print journal Seaswells.

Barr Poetry Contest

 

Must be written in any style on any reasonable topic.

A length of fewer than fifty lines is recommended.

 

First Place: $100

Second Place: $75

Third Place: $50

 

Austin/Garner Prose Contest

 

May be short stories, essays, or creative paragraphs. May be dramatic, analytical, sci-fi, comedy, satire, or another approach. Recommended 1,500 words maximum.

 

First Place: $100

Second Place: $75

Third Place: $50

 

Seaswells Art Contest

 

Any medium is allowed, including digital, pencil, ink, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, oil, conte crayon, and charcoal. Please identify the medium when you submit the digital files.

 

The artwork may be dropped off at one of the following locations: (1) Jones 109 (highly recommended) (2) SAC 129 (3) Camden Center Office.

Second Place: $75

Third Place: $50

 

Seaswells Photography Contests

 

Must be no larger than 8 X 10 inches, unframed and printed on photographic paper. May enter up to three photos in each photography contest (total of nine entries).

 

The prints may be dropped off at one of the following locations: (1) Jones 109 (highly recommended) (2) SAC 129 (3) Camden Center Office.

Color: $75

Computer-Enhanced: $75

Best Overall (Taken from all three categories): $100
